Help the Poor Souls
I was so touched by Pope Francis that I read eight books about him. I had seen how he bowed his head and asked for prayer. I wanted to learn about him. I have seen pictures of Pope Francis kissing handicapped people. He is meek and humble of heart. He is the people's Pope. After being elected Pope he rode the bus back to the hotel. He paid his own bill at the hotel. As Archbishop of Argentina, he rode public transportation to be closer to the people he served.
Do not let his tenderness for others be a sign that he is not strong. He has a strong fist in a soft glove, when it comes to the life issues. Pope Francis says " abortion is never a solution, respect the human being small and helpless..." He condemned abortion as " a death sentence for unborn children." Pope Francis also condemned the widespread discarding of the elderly. They are not to be treated like an old broom and put into the closet! Pope Francis fought abortion and same sex marriage in Argentina.
He has kissed the feet of the elderly in nursing homes and the feet of people in prison, including the feet of a young female prisoner. Pope Francis is a protector and lover of life. He said, "We should be conscious that people can not receive Holy Communion, and at the same time speak against the commandments, in particular, when abortion, euthanasia, and other serious crimes against life and family are facilitated. This responsibility applies particularly to legislators, governors, and health professionals." Pope Francis loves the poor and visits the slums. He goes to his people and is for his people. May we follow his holy example.
