The Eucharist; Real Presence of Christ
Today we begin a new venture into life's unknown and recall that yesterday began the the same way. Just what is our attempt to make a name for ourselves reaching out to strangers who might be bewildered at their own unknown direction, finding that society doesn't care about their existence or the last hope of finding a warm caring person that will save them from an impending disaster.
What does the Lord see within our own heart as he views our response to one of his chidren in need of assistence? How will Jesus deal with any of us if our reply to this stranger is a negative approach. When Jesus told the parable of the Good Samaritan to his listeners' he didn't mince words or use platitudes such as "what if". Our answer must be the same with attending to the needs of this stranger, who now is no longer just another person with dire needs, but a person as if a blppd brother.
Is today your moment to stand up for humanity, finding a brother in need and coming to his rescue? Not becuase we receive blessings earning God's blessings, but receiving his approval for our doing what is expexcted of us. This what our Christian Baptism teaches us.
We should not work at establishing a laundry list of good deeds to make points in God's eyes, but rather to get into the trenches of life'd difficulties and lift someone with problems out of their entrapment. Perhaps they may also do the same for another.
