Be joyful when you are persecuted
As I have written in my previous book ‘Yes… I Will Follow Him’, way back in 1991 I had dedicated six years of my life as a missionary with ‘The International Catholic Programme for Evangelization - ICPE’, to share His Love in different countries. During these six years, I had the opportunity to evangelize in various countries, such as Albania, France, Germany, Ghana, Malta, Poland, Romania, Russia, and Tunisia amongst others.
It was in these countries that I could see with my own eyes and touch with my own hands the need for evangelization. The need to share God's love with the people was immense. During these years I experienced doing evangelization work with prisoners, orphans, disabled persons, persons suffering from leprosy and AIDS, elderly persons living in old people’s homes who were forgotten by their relatives, school children and drug addicts amongst others. I met people of little faith or unbelievers, people belonging to other religions and faiths. I also met with Christians who needed to be re-evangelized.
As I went through these experiences, I noticed one common thing amongst the different people I met: that these people were in search of happiness, of peace, of God… of wanting to know the Truth. This is what I have experienced during these years: people wanting to increase their faith, wanting to know more about Jesus, longing for this personal relationship with Him, of wanting to know that He loves them, of wanting to let go of the chains that they have been trapped in… the chains that make them slaves to sin.
Evangelization is, to bring hope to these people so that they know that they are loved by Him. These are the people that are to be reached to become disciples, to become baptised, and to be offered His teachings. This is what the world expects through evangelization… to evangelize at the peripheries.
God Bless you and take care,
