September 11th Remembrance prayer
Good communication is integral for parish life to flourish starting with the pastor and trickling down to the staff and eventually to the parishioners. Most times when things are right coming from the top down with good communication and relationships, the church community can sense and feel the positivity and it makes a difference. Here are reasons excellent dialogue can lead to even better interconnections for all.
Less Negativity
Like any “job” parish office centers are places of work serving the community of faith. In an office where there is discord and negativity, not much gets done in terms of the mission of the parish itself. Church gossip, complaining, and poor communication feed into a not-good atmosphere not just for those who work there but for everyone. When parishioners and others call the parish or stop in, they can feel the negative vibe, and it is not attractive. When there is positive dialogue and behavior, it is more attractive not only to the workers of the parish office, but to everyone.
Creates a Missionary Atmosphere
When there is friendliness, kindness, and open communications, there is also goodness. When parish office centers focus on the good and with the positive leadership of a skilled pastor, it creates a missionary atmosphere. This atmosphere is engaging to newcomers and to all who enter the sphere. Warmth and friendliness are positive attributes, and this feeling of acceptance and love is contagious.
It is What God Would Want
Positivity, goodness, and kindness are God’s will for the Catholic Church. The Church will grow when all parish communities become kinder and gentler and most of all loving to everyone who knocks. Good communication at the parish level is essential for growth not only in the parish office itself but to the entire community, to the diocese, and to the universal Church at large.
