Satan is the greatest illusionist
“Hear my words, O Lord; listen to my sighing. Hear my cry for help, my king, my God! To you I pray, O Lord; at dawn you will hear my cry; at dawn I will plead before you and wait. You are not a god who delights in evil; no wicked person finds refuge with you” (Psalm 5:1-5)
It can be discouraging at times. The world, with all its evil and hate, can cause believers to fall into Satan’s trap of thinking the Lord is nowhere to be found. Rising prices, smaller bank account balances, and the stress of wondering perhaps where your next meal will come from or how you will provide for your child can seem overwhelming. It can seem lonely. Where is God?
We know the Lord is still in control. He sees you. He hears your cry. Here is the greatest beauty…he responds.
It may seem like God is silent sometimes. In fact, He can be silent. That does not mean He is not working and moving on your behalf. David reminds us in Psalm 5 that the Lord does not take delight in evil. He does not like what is going on in the world around us. He does not enjoy seeing the suffering of people. He does not enjoy seeing racism run rampant, hatred spew from the mouths of children, tears of mothers who cannot feed their children, and sin flaunted in the streets as “pride” and “celebration”.
When you pray, your prayers are heard. He hears you. He loves you. He will not turn a deaf ear to His children. We may not always receive the response or the answer from Him that we desire, but rest assured it is in the shadow of His wings where we find refuge. It is under His protection where we rest in comfort and protection. It is in His Presence where we truly are fed, held, loved, and sheltered.
“Father in heaven, Lord God, we give you praise and thanks for your great goodness. We adore you and thank you for hearing our cry, receiving our prayers, and seeing our tears. Lord come to our assistance. Quieten our fearful hearts, fill our empty tables, guard us from false beliefs, bring equality to all races, strike down the prideful, protect and guard life, and create in me a clean heart Oh Lord. We thank you for your great goodness and your mercy which endures forever. Thank you, Lord, for hearing your children. Thank you for caring, loving, and meeting our needs. Give me ears to hear your still small voice, O Lord. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.”
