Where is beauty in your life?
We put many things and people into our heart. We know this by how we spend our time and what we look forward to. Spending our time with our loved ones. Looking forward to when the family is together. These are great things. But, do we spend our time with Jesus? Do we look forward to our time with Jesus at Mass?
Jesus truly looks forward to His time with you. It saddens Him when He does not see you every week. It also saddens Him when you spend your multitude of extra time without giving Him any visit. He sits and waits in every tabernacle in every Catholic parish, but especially in Adoration chapels, which we are blessed to have in Marshfield. Jesus is there, 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
His longing to see you is the longing of a groom at the altar for his bride. After all, Jesus is the groom and we, the Church, are His Bride. But He does not long for us collectively, but for each one of us individually. Being God, He is not constrained like we are. He is able to have a deep longing for each one of us beyond any longing known to man. When Jesus said “I thirst” from the Cross, He was expressing His great thirst for our love. He laid bare His love for us and He thirsts for us to return our love.
We are already in Jesus’ Heart. His Sacred Heart that suffered gruesome tortures to show His love for you. The greatest of these tortures is to not receive love in return for His great love. Such a suffering is greater than when His Sacred Heart was pierced with the spear. Will you place Jesus in your Heart? Do you long to spend time with Him and look forward to being with Him?
Jesus, You placed Your Sacred Heart within each Eucharistic Host in a great longing to be with us. Help us to receive You with all the love that we can and make up for our inability to love You perfectly with Your most perfect love. Amen.
