Give Him everything
As has already been mentioned in the previous Chapter, over the years many people have come to believe that sin does not exist. Many people have asked the question: Does sin exist? In today’s society, man is answering this question by falling into different traps of believing that sin does not exist. In different ways, man is denying himself from experiencing the Truth, the Word of God, the love of the Father, and of having a personal experience with Jesus.
In today’s society, man is focused on what the world offers, on what one can gain in a very short time, if not instantly. Man has become impatient, he is lacking in being humble and finds it hard to believe in and have faith in God. Living in the frenzy of today’s society, it is easy for any human being to lose track of salvation, to lose sight of God. Man’s heart is not filled with the peace that transcends from God. This is the situation when man’s heart is overtaken by sin. Sin is nothing else but the separation of man from God.
Imagine a loving mother giving birth to a child, and for some reason or another, the child is separated from the mother for the rest of his life. This does not mean that the mother never existed and that the mother never gave birth to that child. It shows that for a particular reason, separation between the child and the mother had occurred. For the child to be born, the mother did exist, even though the child never recalls being with his mother.
So, no matter what different ideas are brought forward by different people, that sin does not exist, it is a fact that sin exists, as much as God does exist. Saint John Eudes (1601 – 1680), who was a French Roman Catholic priest, said: ‘Let us therefore give ourselves to God with a great desire to begin to live thus, and beg Him to destroy in us the life of the world of sin, and to establish His life within us’. This famous quote of Saint John Eudes, for sure is still strong and applicable for today’s society. Today’s society is practically doing precisely the opposite of what Saint John Eudes preached. We are living in a world where many individuals are giving themselves as slaves to the power of darkness, destroying the peace within their lives and abandoning their faith in God. These individuals are letting their lives be taken over by Satan, by letting sin overpower their being. Man is believing that sin does not exist, maybe because they do not know any better! Way back in 1946, Pope Pius XII spoke a prophetic word, which for sure still applies today: ‘Perhaps the greatest sin in the world today is that men have begun to lose the sense of sin.’
