We may ‘know’ that everything we have comes from God, but when we run into some difficulties, we tend to try to manage them by our self. However, this is precisely the time we need to ‘know’ where our abilities come from. We can only manage the difficulties if God gave us the ability to. And if we rely on Our All-knowing and All-powerful Father, we can be assured that we will manage the difficulties as we should.
It is the little difficulties that slip through. We get that extra bit of work that compounds our day. We ‘buckle down’ to take care of it our self. While that is not wrong, we oftentimes forget our help in Heaven. They are waiting to help us if we but ask them.
So, why do these little difficulties matter if we involve our help from Heaven? Well, it is precisely in the little difficulties that we build and maintain our relationship with Heaven. Imagine having a spouse that you only asked for help with the large difficulties. You go on slaving away while they relax. In our case, Heaven wants to help us carry our burden. Not all spouses may want to help, but that is another story.
Our strength to handle what this world has to throw at us comes from God. Indeed, we know this to be true, and yet we need to continually work to making it a reality in our daily life.
Jesus, You carried the Cross and asked that we carry our cross daily. Help us to carry our cross well. Amen.
