Recently I've been getting too many posts on Social Media about how the world is coming apart and the sky is falling.
I imagine you've been getting them too.
You know the ones that say, "We are living in unprecedented times..."
or how about the ever-famous de-population post, "..this is a terrible time to raise a family and have children".
I don't know about you, but I choose not to sit there and absorb the negativity.
My simple Christian response to such posts is, "we are a people of hope".
Now this is not to dismiss the fact that we are living in some crazy times with uncertain understandings of what is to be and what is to come of our great nation.
Got it. Noted.
But I am reminded of how Jesus warned us not to be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.
I refuse to lose focus on Christ Centered living, and so I am taking my little lit candle of hope and I am sharing it wherever I can.
Maybe my lit candle will help someone feel a little brighter that day rather than feel the weight of such a negative post.
Maybe my candle will even save someone from depression, darkness or despair.
Whatever it is, it's good to respond to these negative posts with hopeful language and hopeful engagement.
It's a choice between quietly sitting behind the counter and offering the counter to the sad, the dark and the ugly.
So yes, we have to prepare for whatever we can, and yes we have to understand how we can protect ourselves and our loved ones.
But we must never lose hope. Christians are a people of hope, we are saved through our Lord, Jesus Christ, and God loves us.
Our candles are lit! Let's keep spreading His great light!
