Kindness Outdone?
“For I know their works and their thoughts” Isaiah 66:18
I have been thinking about pizza for the past two days straight. I even had a dream I was eating pizza. Right now, I am eating ice cream and thinking about how great it would be to have a hot slice of pepperoni pizza with my vanilla ice cream. This means that if God took a peek inside my brain, he would see a giant slice of pizza floating between my ears instead of a brain. Not exactly the perfect image of prayerful meditation directed toward the heavens. Before you start judging me, I just want to remind you that God chose to make Rome, the pizza capitol of the entire planet, the home of Pope, the leader of His entire Church.
Upon first examination, it seems quite the invasion of privacy that God can literally mind read. But think about it. If someone makes a pizza from scratch, they are going to know every single thing about that pizza. They know exactly how much flour, eggs, pineapple (or not!) is in that pizza. God made us from scratch too. He knows our essence intimately. It might be uncomfortable at first to accept God’s call to let Him care about us. But letting God in and telling Him what your favorite type of pizza is a good start. It is the beginning of a real and honest dialogue with our Creator. Be genuine with Him and talk to Him like He is sitting across the table eating pizza with you, not like He is across the sky and behind a cloud. Why does God invite us to Mass every Sunday? He does it because He wants to invite us into His home and to share a meal with us.
