The Impact of the Pulpit and the Role of Ordained Ministers' Preaching
Stop looking for an excuse to deny God’s Presence
There is an old saying I heard that to bring down the Church first destroy the family unit. How often do we see complete family members at mass? Yes, there are circumstances where different activities may interfere with father, mother, and one or more children being together every week. However, when that separation occurs frequently there is a problem. It is a rare occasion when there may not be enough opportunities for all members to attend mass at some point. But, if the desire to worship together it can be possible.
What has happened in the last 25 to 40 years where the faith we all adhered to is no longer apparent? I recently heard one woman mention the church is to blame. What? Too many people want to hold the church itself or the higher echelon naming the pope and bishops responsible for pedaphelia as the prime instance of people no longer attending mass. Could we stop for a moment and realize many Catholics have attended mass under the obligation of mortal sin if staying away without a valid reason. Of the many who have decided to avoid mass because they know a family whose son was abused and that is my reason to not go. That is the most notorious excuse I have heard.
Another negative activity has been parents, whether one or two, not only forgoing mass but avoiding teaching and encouraging and speaking about Jesus and the grace he sends us. These children are growing up without knowledge of the creator and are being schooled with anti-christian philosophy. How do I know this; family connections where the parents, married in the Cathiolic Church, raised as Catholics, and having their own parental influence themselves are living as if there is no God. What have become common are aunts and uncles, and in some cases grandparents are also guilty of not mentioning God, the Church, and the proponents of sin and hell.
Remember, we are under satanic influence and that is the number one tactic of attack on the family, the church, and the clergy.
A priest this morning on EWTN stated that only one third of those who have left are returning to the church. Again, my feeling is many were already dismayed over the church for many personal reasons and the pedaphile problem and Covid-19 became the excuses they were looking for. Neither of those are legitimate enough to avoid mass, but humans can easily find reasons to extricate themselves for things they do not associate with.
What did Jesus say about the road to life; “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.” (Mt.7: 13-14).
I just sent a family text this evening and mentioned that without the responsible caretakers of children, ignoring any connection to God may result in a trial before God. We are all responsible for omission as well as commission to sin. “So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, it is a sin.” (Jas. 4: 17).
