"Ex Cathedra" The chair of Peter
Searching for God in the midst of doubt and confusion
As Christians you would think that everyone who attends church and goes through the motions of what should be a pattern of belief should not become a problem. However, the world we grew up in never anticipated so many new gods would become our worshiped idols. Once Moses descended the mountain carrying the tablets with the Ten commandments both he and God became infuriated with these people who could nor wait to replace worshiping the true God.
Going back thousands of years to around the Exodus, placing it approximately at 1447 BC. The continued problem from then to the mission of Jesus, and continues to today has never changed. It isn’t so much that people are easily led away from the blessings God hands us, it is the desire to have more with very little, if any, contribution from themselves. The interesting interjection of non-commitment from persons everywhere is always seeking a leader whom they can control to satisfy their own restless hearts.
When the Israelites fashioned a golden calf by melting down all of the jewels they collected before their exiting Egypt it was not to make a foreign god to worship, it became a god of things that has entered into the 21st century.
What is it that people who have left God and all the signs of salvation that draw our attention to replace the Truth of God with items that cannot breathe, walk, or understand? An insatiable appetite for pleasure, satisfaction of acquiring the largest houses and cars, and the ardent desire for a bank account that far exceeds our neighbor’s.
After the arrival of Jesus to save the people of God from themselves, all he found was rejection, spitting at him, accusations of casting out demons by beelzebub.
The numbers of those who once were active followers of Jesus Christ, the Church who is the bride to be in the wedding of the just, and all that was given for our salvation has dramatically diminished. The tragic loss of believers has become a new sign of things to come in our day.
Three persons in one God is not a grammatical pronouncement of perhaps there was one like this. It is truth that Jesus gave us and we, just as those who fashioned a golden calf as their god, have successfully turned themselves away from the teaching of the bible. Their quest, unbeknown to them, and any one they can convince to follow is pulling the church attendance away from God, the one True God, and preparing a charge of no-return for their immortal souls.
I have alluded before, to this existence of the church falling from the grace of God into the hands of many gods that will answer and coddle their need for pleasure, large wealthy items that cannot breathe, walk, or even comprehend what they have traded their souls for.
Where will it all end? When the Parousia comes, it can not be close enough to release the church from an impossible task. The free will of individuals has stretched its arms to make God an enemy with all the commandments and freedom from everlasting death that he has promised. To be able to stand at a distance and see the God of Abraham with all of the Lazarus’s and ask for a drop of water for our tongue will receive the same the man who gave up his heritage for gods that don’t talk, walk, or breathe the life each of us could have inherited will become an eternity of reaping the disappointment we threw away. (Lk. 16: 19 - 31).
