The Seven Reasons Why I Go To Church
I see a lot of articles on the (insert number) reasons people don’t go to their Catholic Church, so I thought it was time for an article on the seven reasons why I do go to church:
- Because I like it.
- Because I sing at Mass.
- Because when I don’t sing at Mass, I can experience another parish if I choose to.
- Because sometimes the work week nearly kills me spiritually.
- Because I need the spiritual armor to start my work week.
- Because if I don’t go, I miss it.
- Because if I don’t go, my husband will get mad, and my husband is Italian and owns a cement mixer.

My name is Pam Spano and I converted to the Catholic faith as an adult over 30 years ago. My conversion story started when I sarcastically said to my Catholic boyfriend at the time, "I suppose if we were to get married, you would want me to convert." He thought for a moment and said, "Well, I am worried about your soul." I suddenly realized that maybe I should be worried about my soul and so the journey began. That boyfriend and I have been married 33 years.
I started blogging at ChicagoNow nearly four years ago. Being Catholic ... Really grew from the many conversations I've had with family and friends about our faith. It's been quite a ride!
