Here is a prayer for you and your family for Christmas dinner which keeps in mind the prayers of your heart and for those near and far who need our intercession desperately in this season.

Prayer for Christmas dinner

Dear Lord,

We come to you gratefully on this day with thanks for all you have provided for our family over this last year.  Thank you for meals we have shared at this table in the past, fellowship, but most of all for the faith we share.

Lord, please bless the food we are about to eat on this Christmas (or Christmas eve) day. We celebrate together all that your coming into this world means to us and to all those people who have been a part of our lives, past, present, and future.

Let us take a moment to reflect on the holy night when you were born, and how grateful to God we are for your presence each day of our lives. (Reflect in silence.)

We remember at this moment those who have suffered over this past year, those who may have lost a loved one, and those who may be alone or without hope at this moment. We ask you Lord to bless them, and to bless our family, this food, and our celebration.

Let us never forget that our greatest gift is you, Lord Jesus, and help us to live your gospel each day going forward.

Assist us through prayer and by your spirit to fully commit our lives and our hearts to you so as to live out our destiny in doing your will.

Bless us oh Lord and these thy gifts which we are about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord. Amen.
