URGENT Benedict XVI needs you
On Dec 28th, Pope Francis asked for prayers for Benedict XVI since his health deteriorated but it was still stable:
“I would like to ask you all for a special prayer for Pope Emeritus Benedict, who in silence is supporting the Church. Remember him asking the Lord to console him, and sustain him in this witness of love for the Church, until the end.”
The 4th Commandment is "honor thy father ...". It's a special time to honor our Holy Father (emeritus) with our prayers.
Vatican News shared this prayer:
"Almighty and Eternal God,
You are the everlasting health of those who believe in You.
Hear our prayers for your sick servant Benedict for whom we implore the aid of Your tender mercy, through Christ our Lord. Amen."

The best prayer for the agonizing is the Divine Mercy chaplet, with the desire to be by their side if possible. In Saint Faustina's Diary, Jesus primised He will surround their souls with His infinite Divine Mercy (thus, guaranteeing Heaven, no matter what):

In 2021, Benedict sent condolences for a friend's death:
“Now he has arrived in the next world, where I am sure many friends are already waiting for him. I hope that I can join them soon.” Surely, thinking about Philippians 1:21-23
"For to me life is Christ, and death is gain. If I go on living in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. And I do not know which I shall choose. I am caught between the two."
