Georg Hegel and the Left Today
Matthew 22: 21 “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.”
1 Peter 2: 17 “Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.”
One of the founders of western philosophy, inspired by the French Revolution, Phenomenology of Spirit was his opus on society, religion and consciousness. A one time Christian and European philosopher, a pre-Marxist socialist, Hegel proclaimed it was man’s experience within society that allowed a consciousness to develop. His perception of self was intrinsically connected with the perceptions of others upon his self, a precursor to social interactionist theory. And his interaction with others’ perceptions allows his own sense of self to become real. Through this experience, he led to the recognition of his own soul. So that to Hegel, religion was a mode of consciousness of soul that sought to establish the truth of the relationship between man and God. And this consciousness could not exist without the state organized for the sake of man. A liberal Christian, admitting to be a Lutheran, Hegel also saw himself as a liberal Prussian. That is, a political liberal who would support the Prussian state as long as it pursued the political ends of liberal Protestant humanism - the state organized for the sake of man. As he thinking progressed, it became that the incarnation and resurrection of Jesus was no longer within his belief system as the state was the ultimate authority; thus from a liberal Christian to a reborn atheist.
Given this view, Hegel was ultimately authoritarian. The individual had no right contrary to the authority of the state. Since his consciousness emerges from his experience with the state, an integral part of the community, it is ultimately from the state whereby he draws his entire physical, intellectual, moral, and even spiritual life. All independent wills and rights are dependent on the existence of the state. The state is the highest morality, higher than society, higher than the family, higher than the individual. His tendency toward autocracy is such that social morality, not spiritual morality is the limits of man’s consciousness. Freedom yes, but only within the bounds of state needs and control. With this his militant atheism grew. National and global statism was eventually the goal for all societies. All individual rights and freedoms would ultimately be subjected to societal and state structures. Comes the so called ‘Great Global Reset’. The Great Reset is nothing less than corporate socialism or communist capitalism on a worldwide
scale. And adherence to global structural changes is referred to as woke-ism. Go woke or else is the cry from the yearly meetings of the World Economic Forum which meets in Davos Switzerland. American representative John Kerry at the most recent meeting assured the conference that the United State is totally cooperative with all its agendas including climate change financing, economic restructuring and centralization of governmental structures. This is especially with the election of its latest president, Pres. Joe Biden.
What is this exactly? None other than capitalism with Chinese characteristics, and let all other gods bow before it. For how is it that China is the only successful communist country? It is a Marxist socialist political economy funded by capitalist economic development, the reverse of the American system. The American system is one funded by capitalist economic development now implementing authoritarian state intervention with authoritarian measures to control the population. The Democratic Party is that party of Covid-19 nationwide restrictions, sexual state legislation and taxation regulations for large scale corporations, along with the destruction of small business. The middle class pays for it all. It is becoming a two-tiered system like China, an authoritarian centralized government at the top along with multinational corporations at the top and those at the bottom living a socialist life through the welfare initiatives of the Democratic Party. With the technology industry in its pocket, such welfare initiative now easier to manage include national Medicare, a single payer health care system, free college tuition and free legalized drugs. Little do they realize that without God, all dictatorships whether national or global are doomed to failure. So which is your ultimate authority, God or the state? I think we are in for trouble. Watch out! What shall we do? Reread biblical quotes above.
