Wisdom and a reflection on Suffering
Wisdom, a reflection on specific teachings, deep within Jesus’ ministry, to mankind. As we look upon the different executions of life and the progression of attaining holiness, this book opens with each particular aspect in a manner of understanding.
On Suffering: “But the souls of the just are in the hand of God, and no torment shall touch them. They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead; and their passing away was thought an affliction and their going forth from us, utter destruction. But they are at peace. For if before men, indeed, they be punished, yet is their hope full of immortality; Chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed, because God tried them and found them worthy of himself. As gold in the furnace, he proved them, and as sacrificial offerings he took them to himself. Those who trust in him shall understand truth, and the faithful shall abide with him in love; because grace and mercy are with his holy ones, and his care is with his elect.” (Wis. 3: 1- 6, 9.
“In this you rejoice, although now for a little while you may have to suffer through various trials, so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold that is perishable even though tested by fire, may prove to be for praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Pt. 1: 6 - 7).
The ministry of suffering cannot be ignored, especially since Lent reminds us he who came to redeem all mankind needed to suffer in order to cleanse the chastisement awaiting you and me. This is a mandate from God to pay the ransom for our rejecting him. As Jesus suffered so we shall also carry the same cross.
