LIFE'S MYSTERY
Pope Francis has aked Catholics to observe the Annunciation with a Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, according to NCRegister.com.
We are reminded also of the Jewish Passover when leavening ceases and lambs are sacrificed in memory of their release from Egypt and resettlement in Jerusalem.
Just so, Catholics recall Jesus travel from the Galileean region through Jericho and into Jerusalem, just in time for our Holy Week. The unleavened bread of the Holy Eucharist and sacrifice of the Lamb of God, occur just before Jesus' Resurrection that we celebrate on Easter Sunday.
We also recall that Lent is spring, in a word, and that is the time for the first fruits of barley to be harvested for making the unleavened bread.
This week from March 25 to March 31, we can think of our own trip as we recall Jesus' journey. It will ready us for Palm Sunday and Holy Week that follow.
"OUR FATHER, WHO ARE IN HEAVEN, GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD. . ."
