Saint Vincent Ferrer was a Catholic priest and missionary who lived in the 14th and 15th centuries. He is known for his extensive preaching throughout Europe, which earned him the nickname "The Angel of the Judgment." He is the patron saint of builders.
Vincent Ferrer was born in Valencia, Spain, on January 23th, 1350. He was educated by the Dominicans, and later joined their order himself. In 1367, he was ordained a priest. He began his preaching ministry in 1399, traveling throughout Spain, France, Italy, and other parts of Europe, spreading the message of repentance and the coming of the end of the world.
One of the most notable events of Vincent Ferrer's life was his participation in the Council of Constance, which was called to resolve the Western Schism, a split in the Catholic Church. Vincent Ferrer played a key role in the council, which ultimately resulted in the election of Pope Martin V in 1417.
Vincent Ferrer was also known for his miracles, including healing the sick and raising the dead. He was canonized by Pope Calixtus III in 1455, and his cult was approved by Pope Sixtus IV in 1483.
Saint Vincent Ferrer died on April 5th, 1419, and the translation of his remains in 1455. His feast day is celebrated on April 5th.
