YOU WELCOMED ME
I am not proposing anything new. This urgency of prayer has been the subject of fervent discourse here on Catholic 365 many times, so I hardly think that I will be the last person to interject the importance of praying for the unborn! Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen’s Spiritual Adoption prayer is the quintessential prayer for Good Friday. Don’t you agree? It takes very little time to pray it.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much.I beg you to save the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted, and is in danger of abortion. Mary, our mother in heaven, pray for us, and especially for your little ones in danger of abortion!
On this somber day, as we remember Christ Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice of a brutal, gruesome death by crucifixion for the salvation of the world; let us never forget the fact that all the unborn children in this country and world undergo their own crucifixions DAILY. These precious little ones are ONE with Jesus, in their horrific pain and agony in the crosses they must bear- and ultimately an untimely death in the womb.
Do we see these precious babies there with Jesus, Our Savior as we venerate the cross on Good Friday? How this must grieve our Heavenly Father! The loss of all HIS beautiful children, created by HIM and for HIM, destined to live an abundant life in God’s love and mercy. In abortion, God’s children never celebrate their first birthdays, learn to ride a bike or become the priest HE calls them to be!
If you begin praying the Spiritual Adoption prayer on Good Friday, and say it each day for nine months- you will finish right around the Feast of the Epiphany! You might consider giving your Spiritually adopted baby a name! Maybe someday that baby will grow up and have a role in the canonization of Bishop Sheen!
We also should sincerely ask Archbishop Sheen’s intercession for our current magisterium; the Holy Father, bishops and priests called by Jesus Christ to lead and safeguard the flock entrusted to them. Are these shepherds radically distracted with worldly ambitions? Do they not really care about the unborn in the womb? Only the Lord knows this. HE is the onlyone who truly knows their hearts. HE will judge them, not I.
Fulton Sheen left us many words, spoken with great zeal; here is a quote for pondering “ Whenever man attempts to do what he knows to be the Master’s will, a power will be given him equal to the duty.”
Venerable, Fulton J. Sheen, pray for us!
