Teen Doula Explore Class - what's that all about?

Welcome! 

Does your teen want something to do over the summer and is bored of the same offerings? 

Great - I have a special summer class for your teenager to do this summer!

This class is to help teens learn about what a doula does and what it is like as a doula! The course covers both information about birth doula and postpartum doula work. So, yes, the teen doula explore does cover some "baby care" information. (Note: this is not a babysitting course). Also this class is CATHOLIC based.

Class covers:
Birth Doula Work information
We will cover about half of what we teach birth doula class. (So, it will be like thru module 4).
Mini-explore course goes through a lot of what we teach in the main birth doula course with similar assignments.
Day in life of a doula.
Postpartum doula - we are planning to go ahead and add in more for postpartum because this covers babies more - so that will be like an overview of about 3-4 modules of our regular class.
Bereavement doula - briefly covered
Midwifery information and some notes about midwifery work and day in life of a midwife.
Nursing process steps and day in life of a nurse.
Resource list in classroom.

What does the course include? 

Your teen will receive:
*Booklet - Teen Doula Explore Booklet to read
*Canva PDF St. Philomena workbook (note quizzes are only in the main booklet)
*Resource List
*Handout about Baby Care for postpartum
*Entrance into Google Classroom. This supports Gmail addresses only - you or your teen will need to have a Gmail address. (No exceptions) - I do not have time to create extra class areas.
*Zoom live students will have opportunity for 1 time slot with teacher outside zoom time while self-paced will have none or pay for a slot if needed.

*We have TWO options for teens for this course.

1. Zoom class option is live class where students meetup 4 times with instructor. Students can ask questions and receive one time slot outside of zoom time if needed for extra help. Certificate of completion. 

2. Non-zoom class - this is called self-pace (possible access to recordings after we record new session) - students work through assignments on their own pace. Certificate of completion. 

@@@When does the class meetup?

We are announcing 3 sessions for the summer.

Our First Session is May Mini-Mester - that one will be meeting 2 times a week over 2 weeks. 

Second Session is June - that one will meet once a week for 4 weeks.

Third Session is July - that one again will meet once a week for 4 weeks. 

If we have one teen only signup for any session - we have a right to shorten the sessions and go through materials with the one teen over 2-3 sessions instead. Thanks for understanding.
