When God Smiles

"I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” --John 10:10

The gift of life is the greatest gift we will ever receive. It is the gift from a God who can give only good gifts and never has or will give a bad one. So. What is the best way for me to show God that I love the gift He gave me? By cherishing it, of course! I not so recently received a heated coat from someone I love. I showed him that I loved it by wearing the coat and proudly telling everyone who noticed that it was he who had given it to me. Why shouldn't I start doing the same thing when people complement the smile God gave me? When they tell me, "I love your smile," what is stopping me from replying, "Thank you so much, I love it too because God gave it to me!"? Well, for one, people might think I am just a little vain if I go around talking like that. But that doesn't have to stop me from saying at least a silent prayer to thank God for His abundance of gifts to me. For without my life, I never would have had the opportunity to bask in His love, to say, "Yes!" to Him when He calls my name, to have, not just any old life, but an abundance of one, so much so that it goes on for an eternity. I pray I never waste another opportunity to smile and share with everyone the abundant and eternal goodness of His gifts.
