When belief in God no longer has meaning.
Are we able to examine God?
By examining an entity or in this case searching the personhood of the Trinity. Of course, some may scrutinize the very thought of trying to reach into the divine essence of our Creator and expect a finite answer. By even wanting to investigate the inside of God’s mindset we are trying to become part of the Trinity's decision to create the very presence of our human existence.
However, we live in an eternal creation filled with so many mysteries that have become further away from our finiteness each time we open the pages of God’s blueprints. Augustine was one person who spent endless nights dreaming or putting together the pattern God used when creating everything we have. Without appearing to repeat the most famous dream Augustine had was the mystery of the Holy Trinity. In his dream he found himself walking on the seashore and came upon a young child pouring water, from a small bucket, into a hole he had dug in the sand. Upon questioning the child as to what he was doing, the youth said he was emptying the ocean into this hole. Seeming amused, Augustine told the child that was impossible. The young child, who was an angel, also told Augustine, :”And you Augustine will never understand the mystery of the Trinity.”
Now we know that perhaps these many mysteries we shall never know, in this lifetime, but to understand all we don’t know about God is not being sacreligious in learning, but to have an internal share of God’s giftedness we are to use in evangelizing his church.
Thinking about the massive space of the universe we would love to explore to the end of it, we must assume that there is or isn’t an end to its boundaries, if indeed there is one. Depending on the unknown length of our existence on this planet, mankind will keep searching the cosmos until he finds that answer. Until then, we may continue asking, inventing, and trying to comprehend God’s purpose for each one to not just sit and let things exist without efforts to find answers to our quests. If we were given the ability to ask, then we must also know, not assume, that a questioning brain is also God’s gift to us to keep on inventing and building this world. However, the one requirement is never to use these successes of human ingenuity, personally. It is to use them for everyone’s purpose of reaching into the blessings from God for all time and persons he sends to us. We must never forget that our Creator used everything we have to ensure that all his creatures enjoy and use his universe for their purpose of life, which was bought through sacrifice. He is the sacrifice, and he is the ultimate purpose for our success, both humanly and spiritually.
Yes, we are able to examine God’s intent of our creation and the creativity he endows within each of us. The giftedness we all possess is not just for us individually, it is for a continued world where we praise God, now on earth and then in Heaven where all will thank God, forever.
