Bishops in Mozambique Condemn Violence in Cabo Delgado Province
Saint Faith, Hope and Charity, also known as Saints Faith, Hope, and Charity of the Holy Family, were three Christian sisters who lived in the early 3rd century. They are the patron saints of lost and stolen articles, children, widows, and childless couples.
There are not many records of their life events, but according to tradition, Faith was known for her piety and devotion to God, Hope for her strong trust in the Lord, and Charity for her kindness and generosity towards others. They were also said to be the nieces of Saint Stephen, the first Christian martyr.
About the year 250 AD, during the reign of the Roman Emperor Decius, the sisters were martyred for their faith. Despite the efforts of the authorities to force them to renounce their beliefs, they refused and were imprisoned and subjected to torture. Eventually, they were killed for their unwavering devotion to their faith.
Their canonization date is not recorded, but they are venerated as saints by the Catholic Church.
