Lift Up Your Spirit To The Lord
Mary is The Spouse of The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit overshadowed Her, and She conceived Jesus. On Pentecost, in The Upper Room in Jerusalem, the Holy Spirit came as fire upon Mary and the Apostles. For Mary, the overshadowing of Her Spouse was sweetly familiar. The intoxication of Her Spouse The Spirit, produced the salvation of the world.
You may have heard of “The Second Pentecost” an upcoming event, where the Spirit will be poured out among many and revitalize The Church. I don’t know about you - but I want to be like Mary. I don’t want the overshadowing of The Holy Spirit to be new to me, I don’t want the fire of The Holy Spirit to be foreign, but familiar. Like Mary, we should be regularly basking in the light of The Spirit, becoming one with The Spirit. The Spirit should not be new to us, but simply be a stirring of the sweetness and the goodness of The Father, and The Son. The Holy Spirit lives within us, and we should be on most familiar terms.
Saint Maximilian Kolbe spoke of “Transubstantiation into The Immaculata” which is becoming one with Mary. As women, we are called to “put on Mary” and become Persona Maria, reflections of The Mother of God; She who is the outward sign of The Church. When we become Mary, The Spirit becomes our Spouse. This is the recipe for being on familiar terms with The Spirit. Unification with Our Blessed Mother produces unification with The Holy Spirit Her Spouse, and vice versa.
We all make up the Mystical Body of Christ, and our Union with God produces unification with each other. Since Mary is the human being with the highest degree of Union with God, God is in Her to the highest and fullest degree; therefore wherever we find Mary, we find The Holy Spirit, Her Spouse. Are you in search of The Holy Spirit? Look no further than today’s great Feast of Pentecost; and you can find the Holy Spirit dwelling upon Mary, His most beloved Spouse.
“When the Holy Spirit, finds Mary in a soul, He hastens there and enters fully into it. He gives Himself generously to that soul according to the place it has given to His spouse. One of the main reasons why the Holy Spirit does not work striking wonders in souls is that He fails to find in them a sufficiently close union with His faithful and inseparable spouse.” - True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, Saint Louis de Montfort
The secret of Union with The Holy Spirit is Union with Mary. As a woman, the closer you resemble Our Lady and possess Her virtues, the more the Holy Spirit will flock to you. The Holy Spirit feels welcome where He finds reflections of Mary, His Spouse.
If you wish to have a closer union with The Holy Spirit, ask yourself “Do I resemble Mary? Do I try and imitate Her virtues? Her sentiments? Her modesty?” One of the best ways to begin the journey of becoming “Persona Maria" is veiling at Mass. The Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary shrouded in the secrecy of Her veil. There’s a tangible outpouring of grace when you allow yourself to be veiled in the dignity of The Lord. The Holy Spirit inhales the fragrance that emanates from the veiled woman, relishing in the sweet scent of the remembrance of His Spouse.
Come Holy Spirit, you are welcome here.
