Saint Marcellinus the Priest and Saint Peter the Exorcist: Martyrs of Faith

Saint Marcellinus the Priest and Saint Peter the Exorcist were two prominent figures in early Christianity who are remembered for their bravery and devotion to their faith. Saint Marcellinus was born in Rome, Italy in the third century. He was a priest during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, a time when Christians were subjected to intense persecution. Saint Peter the Exorcist was also born in Rome in the third century. The two Romans were eventually martyred together during the persecution of Diocletian. According to tradition, they were arrested and brought before the authorities, who tried to force them to renounce their faith. However, Marcellinus and Peter remained firm in their faith. They saw their imprisonment as just one more opportunity to evangelize and managed to convert their jailer and his family. It is believed that they were beheaded in the forest so that other Christians wouldn't have a chance to bury and venerate their bodies. Two women found the bodies, however, and had them properly buried. 

The exact date of their deaths is not known, but some believe that they died in 304 AD. They are remembered each year on June 2nd, which is their feast day. They were canonized as saints by the Catholic Church, and their stories continue to inspire people to this day.

In addition to their feast day, Saint Marcellinus is also remembered as the patron saint of a variety of causes, including protection against pestilence and plagues. Saint Peter the Exorcist, meanwhile, is remembered as the patron saint of those suffering from demonic possession, and he is also considered to be a protector against evil and sorcery.
