Older, Dedicated Parishioners: You Inspire Me, A Young Adult
My husband and I recently vacationed to Quebec City, primarily wanting to visit the city and St. Anne de Beaupre’s Basilica.
As we progressed in our trip, we noticed God revealing himself in all sorts of other ways. We encountered street names of saints, numerous statues, beautiful religious artwork, chapels, churches, monasteries, museums dedicated to religious sister congregations, and even a Franciscan garden. Not to mention, images and statues of the Blessed Mother were everywhere - even on an island closeby where we didn’t expect to find this.
When you go to Rome, you might expect that to happen because that city was built on the faith. But when you go to a random city in Canada, not as much.
Nonetheless, we’d find that God and signs of our Catholic faith were everywhere, constantly inviting us to stop and take notice. We did, and the last day we spent time at a monastery across the street from our hotel as a retreat day.
How frequently do we go about our lives not seeing God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – the Holy Trinity in our midst? Not seeing the amazing vastness of our Catholic Church’s beauty and truth that has infiltrated our world? Not taking advantage of the invitations God sets before us to immerse ourselves in Him?
God is always inviting us into the revelation of Himself – even when we’re on vacation or when we’re walking down roads that seemingly don’t lead to Him. Do we blindly walk away from those revelations or do we stop, take notice, and see God in the midst of them?
That’s the invitation for this Trinity Sunday. Take notice and see God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in your midst and in places unexpected.
