Priesthood and the Grace of Ordination
How evil confronted me and left a hole in my heart! (cf another article I wrote regarding pedaphilia)
Speaking for just one innocent child, regardless of their age and hearing their silent cry for help. Of course, this relates to the millions of young boys, and in some cases, young girls who have been abused sexually by priests. There are other adult men and women who stand guilty of this atrocious attack on the most vulnerable children in our midst. However, what has been uncovered and the perpetrators punished for their conscious satisfaction of an evil immoral act has been taken care of, we have yet to solve or completely eradicate the stench of the victims’ enormous feeling of isolation because of their innocence.
Without even speaking to any of these unfortunate lambs, it is no mystery that their very demeanor in most cases has left them as being attacked by a lone wolf and the physical scars are apparent in the wounded heart of each. They may not speak of it because of embarrassment. Some of the examples stand out as they feel they are guilty of this atrocious act. Others, and there are many in this category, have left the church, having an unpretentious sense of priests, and all they represent. As seen on one news confession one man stood out as a poor sexual person with his wife. No wonder if normal relations with his spouse bring back memories of his unwanted relationship with the one person who represented God. Now, is it any wonder that his absence from the altar may bring disgust with church affiliated clergy?
The question that shouts out to God: what can I do to erase the scars of evil these innocent lambs will carry to their grave; missing is the true love God holds open for them?
One manner, from my own thinking, is a very difficult remedy that most may not accept; pray very earnestly for the one or more men who abused you, and ask the Holy Spirit to bring that person(s) to their knees, seeking forgiveness from you as well as God. When we are hurt from others, especially those whom we trusted and looked up to, harboring hate and looking for revenge on them is what will leave a hole in our heart. Easy? No, but putting this into perspective we cannot forget that God our Father sent his Son Jesus Christ to die for the sins of us and our attackers as well. Herein is the only way those innocent lambs can rise from the ashes of ill contempt by someone who we no longer trust.
Pray to the Blessed Mother of God to show you the manner in which to find that grace her Son through the Holy Spirit will open to you and begin to mend that hole that was not your fault
As terrible as this evil from pedaphilia has left our church with a crucifix hanging over every Catholic, we must be ready to call on the generous forgiveness for us and our enemies. When we forgive others for their evil approaches on us, God will forgive each of us just as quickly.
My last suggestion for one of these suffering lambs is to find a Catholic priest or deacon that you feel comfortable with. Once you feel in a trusting relationship allow God’s Spirit to enter you connection and little by little find God’s presence never left you. Your hurt is real, and God’s soothing balm is real as well. He wants a chance to show his love to you.
