What Will Your Christmas Miracle Be?
Hello, my fellow Catholics and aspiring Holy Rollers! Remember the old saying, ‘show me the money?’ Well, today, I'm here to say: ‘show me the faith!’
Now, before you break open your piggy banks and start collecting your pennies (which, admittedly, could be quite a divine miracle, those are awfully hard to cleanup), let me tell you that this is not your typical money talk, money lesson or money homily. This is about how we Catholics, as part of the faithful, can manage our material moolah in a way that's as comforting as a hot bowl of heavenly spaghetti on a cold, sin-ridden day.
The "In God We Trust" Trust Fund
We've likely all heard of a trust fund, but what about the 'In God We Trust' trust fund? This fund isn't about squirrelling away your gold coins like a sanctified Scrooge. Instead, it's about trusting that God will provide for our needs, while we use our wealth in a way that would make Mother Teresa do a joyous jig. After all, didn't Jesus say, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God"? (Matthew 19:24)
Of course, that doesn't mean you should start buying camels in bulk or investing in tiny needle factories. The point is, we should hold our wealth with open hands, ready to share, not clenched fists.
Praying with Your Pocketbook
Being Catholics, we know the awesome power of prayer. But, have you ever thought about praying with your pocketbook? No, I'm not suggesting you get on your knees with your wallet (although that could make for a fun Instagram post!). Instead, let's pray about how we can use our money to spread the love of Christ and make this world a slightly less messy place.
The next time you look at your budget (you know, that thing that most of you don’t have or the one that feels like the financial equivalent of going on a diet), why not instead say a prayer for wisdom? As Catholics, we're not just called to be faithful in church. We're called to be faithful with everything God has given us, and that includes our finances.
The Spiritual Stock Market
No, this is not a place where you can trade in bad habits for virtues. If only it were that simple! ?? But just like the stock market, our spiritual life involves investment. We invest our time, our love, our energy, and yes, our money. And unlike the stock market, the spiritual market never crashes!
As you’ll learn with Compass Catholic, when we put our finances to work for God's kingdom, we're not just investing for the earthly future. We're investing for eternity. And trust me, the returns on these investments are out of this world. As Jesus said, "Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal." (Matthew 6:20)
Navigating with the Compass Catholic
So how do we navigate this sea of financial faithfulness? That's where the team, many volunteers and amazing resources of Compass Catholic comes in. Like a spiritual GPS guiding you through the confusing highways of hedge funds and holy obligations, Compass Catholic is here to point you towards financial freedom – but not just any financial freedom.
We're talking about a freedom that isn't measured by the size of your bank account, but by the size of your heart. A freedom that allows you to say "yes" to God's call without worrying about how many zeroes are in your paycheck.
The Steward's Final Point
Remember, my new friends, money may make the world go 'round, but it's faith that leads us home. So let's get out there and put our faith into action, using our finances as fuel to continue the work of Jesus Christ on earth. Because when we manage our money in a way that reflects our Catholic faith, we're not just turning cents into dollars - we're turning cents into saints! Can I get a ‘holy moola!?’
So here's to being rich in faith, even when the bank balance may be saying otherwise. After all, when we're faithful with our finances, we're investing in the biggest venture of all - eternal life with Jesus Christ. And that's a return on investment that no earthly bank can beat. Godspeed and see you at Compass Catholic!
