A Self-Righteous Daughter Stands Corrected: The Mercy of God is Unfathomable
I sat down to write a piece on the Holy Eucharist and how important it is to the Christian life. I decided to search the Internet for what the Saints had to say about the Eucharist first, since I trusted their wisdom to be far superior to my own. I came across a list of nearly 80 quotes from Saints on a single website. Another posting yielded at least half a dozen that were not on the first site. And a wonderful book I had read about 18 months ago yielded a quote that hasn’t left my mind since I first read it: it has become an important reason why I have been asking our priest to offer more adoration in our parish, why I started going to adoration 4 times per week most weeks, and why I am writing this article. Since I read the book I have been passing it out to many friends and even priests. Jesus gave Venerable Consolata Betrone this remedy for the ills of our day: “Mankind’s humble adoration of God in the Holy Eucharist will be the weight that crushes satan’s head.” After reading the wisdom filled quotes of the Saints that I have reorganized and honed to a list of Fifty and then highlighted my favorite 15, I felt there was really nothing more I could add to what has already been said, except that my experience with Adoration has proved many of the quotes true, and I too believe as many Saints have said, that Adoration brings blessings far beyond the personal ones that are felt by the individual. Many of my most cherished moments of my life have been during the hours I’ve spent with Jesus in Adoration. St Teresa of Calcutta and her nuns spent an hour in Adoration of the Eucharistic Lord at the start of each day and on days anticipated to be particularly difficult, 2 hours. Jesus has said to more than one Saint that time spent in Adoration is never wasted.”
I hope you enjoy these quotes as much as I did. You can see almost 30 more that are just as amazing by following the link at the bottom of the article, though the original source is not formatted by Saint for those who have multiple quotes.
