Feast Day of Saint Joachim: The Father of the Virgin Mary and Patron Saint of Fathers and the Childless

One day, as Joachim was praying in the desert, an angel appeared to him and told him that he and his wife would conceive a child who would become the mother of the Messiah. Saint Anne also had a similar vision, and soon after, she became pregnant with Mary.

In art, Joachim is shown mostly as an old man, often in the company of his wife Anne, the mother of Mary. He is remembered for his great faith and devotion to God, as well as his humility and generosity towards the poor.

In addition to being the father of the Virgin Mary, he is also believed to be a descendant of King David, which makes him part of the royal line that is associated with the Messiah. Additionally, there are several churches and religious orders that are named after him, including the Order of Saint Joachim, which was founded in the 18th century.

Saint Joachim is believed to have died peacefully at an advanced age, but the exact date of his death is unknown. His canonization date is also not known. 

His feast day is celebrated on July 26th, along with Saint Anne's feast day. This day is known as the "Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne," and it is observed by many Christians around the world.
