4 things Jesus did after the resurrection (and before the ascension)
“We did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that unique declaration came to him from the majestic glory, ‘This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased.’ We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven while we were with him on the holy mountain.” (2 Peter 1:16-17)
We all have a story. As Christians, we all have a testimony. Jesus Christ is not some story in a book. He is not some fairytale. He is not someone that has been invented. He lived. He taught. He loved. He healed. He died. He rose again. He still lives.
The apostles were not passing down some made up fantasy or myth they had heard from other people. Religious such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Scientology, or Islam all have been man-made. They have invented their own gods without having seen the power or presence of the gods they have created. We, on the other hand, have experienced the life-changing power of the living Lord if we are Christians. The apostles emphasized these miracles and the Messiah. They preached about things they had personally seen and experienced.
It was the power of their testimony that drew others to Jesus. It was the power of Matthew telling how he was changed from a crooked and corrupt tax collector to a loving disciple of Jesus. It was Peter sharing with others how he walked away from his profession as a fisherman to live like Christ had called him to live. It was the story of Thomas telling others how he once doubted the resurrection of Jesus until he physically touched the wounds in his hands.
What has the Lord done for you that others need to hear? What kind of life did you have before Jesus? Jesus changed your life for a reason. He has manifested His glory and power to you for a purpose. He wants you to share your story. He wants others to know Jesus lives and is real because you have experienced Him.
What about you? How have you experienced the Lord in your life? Are you sharing how Jesus has touched and changed your life with others? Take a moment to pray and thank the Lord for how He has revealed Himself to you in your life.
