Are We Being Two-Faced with God?
In 1917, before the Virgin Mary appeared to the three children of Fatima, an angel was sent to them to prepare them for Her coming, and this angel taught them five prayers for the reparation of sins committed against God and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, as well as a prayer of love for God in the Blessed Sacrament. One of the prayers given to them was the Pardon Prayer: “My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee! I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love Thee.” This prayer has been made a part of a Chaplet of Adoration and Reparation that is prayed in reparation for sins committed against God, particularly in regard to His Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament. This Chaplet is prayed using a regular rosary and includes three prayers taught to the children at Fatima.
The Chaplet begins like a normal rosary, with the Apostle’s Creed and one Our Father, three Hail Mary’s, and one Glory Be said at the beginning. Then, on the large bead before each decade, the Angel’s Prayer, taught to the children at Fatima, is said:
“Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly, and I offer You the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifference by which He is offended, and by the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners.”
After this, on the ten small beads of each decade, the Pardon Prayer, mentioned above, is said. Following the ten small beads, the Glory Be, just as in a regular rosary, is said, as well as the Eucharistic Prayer, which was also taught to the children: “O Most Holy Trinity, I adore You! My God, My God, I love You in the Most Blessed Sacrament.” At the end of the Chaplet, the Hail Holy Queen prayer is said.
This Chaplet is very beneficial to us, especially now as we have the Eucharistic Revival as requested by our bishops. We can use it to pray for those who do not believe in the Real Presence and who desecrate the Holy Eucharist, asking for their conversion and that they may come to belief in this Sacrament and to all the truths that the Church teaches. We can also use it to pray for poor sinners and those who do not believe in God in general, that they may come to know Him and love Him. Offering our own adoration to God in reparation also soothes His wrath and comforts His Heart. Let us pray this Chaplet as often as we can to ask forgiveness for and the conversion of those who do not love and honor God as they should.
