Catholic Comedy: My Protestant Fire Insurance
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens, as he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world to be holy and without blemish before him. In love, he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favor of his will, for the praise of the glory of his grace that he granted us in the beloved.” (Ephesians 1:3-6)
Our adoption as children of God is for the praise and glory of God. Our very life is for his praise and glory. That’s the purpose of life. We are the adopted children of God, and we are recipients of all the graces that flow from heaven.
He chose you. He still chooses you. He knows you by name. He loves you as His child and, as a result, you have a purpose and destiny. You are called to be holy. You are to live in the holiness and righteousness of the Lord so that others will see Him in you. When we live a life of repentance, love, prayer, and service of the Lord then we are the light of the world that points others to Christ.
You are not just another number to Him. You are not a person lost in the crowd of the world’s population that is not even on God’s radar. You are not forgotten. You are not ignored. He knows you. He sees you. He cares for you. He has given you a life full of his grace, mercy, forgiveness, and love. He has given you a life walking in fellowship with Him.
It is for Christ that you are blessed. It is through Christ that you receive abundant graces from heaven. It is because of Christ that you have salvation and redemption. It is in Christ that you have purpose.
