God's Eternal Plan for you and me!
A walk with Christ is more than footsteps!
We all know the story of footprints on the seashore when we see only one pair of footprints in the sand. The Lord tells us that’s when the struggle became too difficult for us and he picked us up and carried us on his shoulders. A relief when our dependence on Christ comes to fruition. However, this walk is more than footprints, or walking through a battlefield of evil inclinations that certainly will crush us. In every conflict we shall encounter through life the one that will wipe away any faith we have is to allow the enemy a crack in the walls of grace, if that was possible.
When constructing any secure project, be it a bridge, high-rise buildings, or a rampart for battle, there must be a cementing material that will withstand many years of vehicular traffic, the winds of storms, or firing of weapons from an enemy. If the adhesive products are properly made and adhered to with sound preparations, the products that are sought after will hold up under any pressure.
As our faith in Christ continues to take on a barrage from any outside force, we must have a plan to withstand what is coming at us. If it becomes an attraction to sinful activity, physical or mentally, we think of turning and walking away. However, walking from these attractions only holds until we turn the corner and it has an opportunity to confront our strength once more. The unseen antagonist will need to be caught in a web of grace that they cannot fight off. This is the strength that the Archangels had when their counterparts, Satan and his cohorts, became too proud before God and the first heavenly war was fought. That strength is more than muscle or knowing what words to say to the enemy. It is a factor of righteousness and the Grace that can only come from an entity who is God and the promise of his protection against evil that wants our soul.
If we delve into what Satan is looking for, it isn’t human attributes that many will hold onto until death. It is the very essence of God that we hold onto dearly; our souls. If for one moment we allow the enemy to even get one iota of the divine element we have, he has gained the first win of the war he has begun. Divine Grace is the weapon we must keep clean and ready for firing back at this prized possession given us by God. When I was in the US Army the weapon we had (an M1 rifle) was always inspected to ensure we kept it clean and was always ready to use it as our fighting element. It became our only protection on the battlefield. That is the same adherence we all must be studious about when being attacked, constantly. A soul has become the very essence of Almighty God given to us to protect, keep clean from sin, and be ready to stand as a protector of its genuineness and righteousness. It is part of God’s Holiness.
Woe is the person who allows the enemy to get a firm hold on this Godly part of us without seeking to cry out to Christ and bring an unseen legion to stand with us in this battle. None of us is capable of resisting their attacks, but through the grace of God we shall have the bigger guns, with far more firepower than all of Satan’s command.
