Artificial Intelligence to Artificial Wombs
A new monstrous entity that is building up through scientific research with an obvious outcome of ethical, moral, and social implications that will affect the future of life itself. This trend towards saving babies who otherwise would not live past birth due to illnesses that are brought about through complications of premature birth. In 2017 Philadelphia Children’s Hospital revealed life had been successfully sustained inside an artificial womb or “bio bag”.
There is no doubt science will keep resonating with new advances especially in medicine that promises to advance life in many directions. However, this new technology has presented two very serious questions that like all other man-made innovations will have contentious results.
I am certain that students entering medical professions will have a total teaching on right to life and the very importance of the Hippocratic Oath. Some may have deviated from that via abortions on demand. However, this new idea has sidestepped abortion by artificially keeping a baby who may die alive in this artificial womb.
Ok, let’s look at what could occur if this child is kept out of the mother’s womb and he/she grows to be without the warmth, human connection, and a love that can only come from its mother. The very thought of being separated from the umbilical cord where more than nourishment comes, it is the human essence of what motherhood is all about.
We certainly want what is best for a birthing child but how far will science take this new technology where it produces or continues a fertilized embryo in an artificial womb or uterus with no human touch as its mother
Looking at the human creation of man and the process of life beginning through carnal love, through a birth into a foreign world, growing through adolescence to adulthood and finally reaching the promise of heaven with God is more that an artificial enclosure that gives none of these attributes to this child.
Can any of us see the potential that we all received and has brought us close to God through the natural steps of a Spirit filled existence deny that same grace to any child being in an artificial womb?
As the school systems in several states are already changing the rules of indoctrinating sex choices in children too young to even understand what sex really is about, what will these artificially induced children become if the government has the upper hand. Perhaps a temporary detachment from the womb may help one child now, but as with other advancements this scientific effort presents a serious look at the diminishment of theological and ethical premises that are fighting to keep them from eliminating God from the reality of life as it is meant to be.
Bad enough too many children are not being baptized or brought up as Catholics, their progenies will be the same. This artificial child bearing has to be looked at seriously. My predictions are this is one more attack by Satan who will use any means to reduce the family and consequently the Church. Each point of attack on God’s people is another step that Satanic adherence towards science that attracts us but leaves us in a void of uncertainty is an absolute truth that didn’t come from God.
Many martyrs had the opportunity to make a choice that would've saved their human life. They didn’t! If they had, people would say they could do more for God’s people if they saved their lives.
By the same thought, there may be some of the unborn that we must save by using this new artificial science, but removing the fetus from its mother denies them their eternal destiny. Theology and ethics must be considered by us who believe in God and his grace to the Church.
