Don't Dread DNF (Catholics Discerning Entertainment, Part 2)
God does great things with the little ones.
St. Therese was a teenager with a spicy attitude and a long-lasting TB infection. She became a doctor of the church.
St. Joan of Arc was a farm girl. She led an army and freed France at God’s command.
St. Faustina was a redhead with, as one of her superiors put it, “nothing special” about her. Jesus himself spoke to her.
The Blessed Mother was a Jewish girl in a nowhere town in the Roman empire. She became the mother of God.
Now think of the archangels, whose feast we celebrated yesterday. They’re not seraphim. They’re not cherubim. They’re not one of the highest rankings of God’s angels. The opposite is the case.
And yet, Raphael walked on Earth, healed a blind man, defeated a demon, and healed one of the most beautiful marriages in the Bible.
Gabriel announced the birth of the Son of God, the Savior of the World, to the Queen of Heaven.
Michael—a “lowly” archangel—threw Lucifer—the highest, most powerful seraphim—out of Heaven and became the leader of God’s armies.
God does great things with the little ones.
That’s exciting for the likes of you and me.
