Are we living in the past? Our future hangs on it!
We may ask the question why from many unknowns, but hearing the answer is still a mystery.
Certainly we all wonder at the vastness of space and the innumerable bodies that make-up all we can view on a clear night. Just for a moment stare at the show of light coming from somewhere beyond us and try to contemplate their length of life, any other planets that surround each, or what if they still exist.?
Stand in front of a mirror, naked, and surmise the millions of times your heart never stops beating, the many miles of blood vessels, veins, and arteries that are busy highways throughout this magnificent Item called a human body. As long as no foreign virus or cancerous cell attacks this machine we usually take it all for granted.
Deep inside this world of everything moving in a predetermined manner that only God could create there are only questions of how. When something beyond the protective boundaries reaches inside and upsets the very plan of its existence we ask why?
This scenario is just what we encounter when the outsider to peace and freedom called sin becomes a tag-along and is more than a nuisance. It becomes the controlling factor, the blinder to purity, and the adhesive of a web that man is not able to be free from on his own. Once this rider has set its tentacles around our very holiness the pain of an enemy just laughs and digs its spurs into the soul of a weakened individual.
Are we like the planets in outer space where events beyond our understanding have no control? Or are we more down-to-earth where science has given a small birds-eye-view into the workings of the human embryo? In either case things beyond the finite mind of man are still at a loss unable to answer the who or why. Perhaps that is the solution we haven’t discovered when sin has always been the common denominator to failure, greed, selfishness and pride. Yes, the mother of all failures is pride. That’s what put the devil out of heaven and it is the very essence that will destroy mankind.
Looking to reach a level of success in any human endeavor we must have a vigorous attitude with each drop of strength we can muster up. These drops of effort will become the strength we need to achieve our quest. So it is with sin that also wants to raise our pride. Each drop of pride once adjoined one to another will become the strength that even grace will be blocked as long as we turn our backs on this gift from God.
Like the very mystery of outer space and all of its environs the final vision will always be a hidden mystery, so the adoption of the lowest enemy of virtue, pride, will never allow the grace of God to penetrate our souls.
