Weary World Rejoices: Christmas Reflection
The late 1990s saw teen bands and artists make their big break in the music industry. Some may remember names like NSYNC, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys, 98 degrees, and many others. One name may stand out from that group is Britney Spears. It is hard to believe that it was nearly a quarter century ago when they all were dominating the charts. For Spears, she was a part of the movement to revive pope music into the new millennium.
Known as the “Princess of Pop” Spears had songs like “Oops! I Did it Again”, “Sometimes”, and even “Baby One More Time”. She is still active today.
This month, the pope star will be releasing a memoir about her life. In it, she reveals a dark secret from her time dating Justin Timberlake. She shared about her abortion as one of the “most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”
In addition to her agonizing experience with abortion, she shared how JT “wasn’t ready to be a father”.
Like Spears, many women have told their stories about their abortions. Some have said it with a false expression of hope. Others have shared it with urgency to other women as to why they shouldn’t make that same mistake. For her she saw what happens when JT refuses to take ownership and embrace fatherhood. She chose a decision that would leave a gapping whole in her heart to this day.
Let us take this time to pray for women who have had abortions to seek healing. Refer to any post-abortive women to Project Rachel or Rachel’s Vineyard.
Join every faithful in praying for Britney Spears and all women to seek healing and for mothers contemplating abortion to choose life.
Lord, cover your daughter Britney with your loving arms and protective mantle of your mother’s. Help Britney seek your merciful love and to help other women be drawn closer to your Divine Mercy. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
