The Stars In The Sky
Why Not Today?

How many of us are guilty of procrastination? We want to offer the elderly couple down the Street a ride to church, however just have not walked down the Street to ring their doorbell yet. What about those nice clothes in a box that are in the garage that would be greatly appreciated by a family that is in financial instability, there are so many ways that we can be of value to others.
Maybe, there are a couple of coats hanging in the closet that we rarely wear anymore, surely with the cold weather moving in, they would be much appreciated by a big family where the father is out of work. And for those with a big heart, and desire to give what they can, I want to share what I once heard someone say; “It is often easy to give away a disposable item, or piece of clothing, but it is so loving and merciful to give something away that we treasure.
Some of us are Artists, authors, and carpenters and have acquired skills that may be of value to others in their search for a career, do we appropriate a little time to volunteer to help others? Most of us do have something of value to share, whether it be wisdom, time, energy, or money. Empathy and love are qualities that God loves to see in us as He is love. He loves each of us, regardless of how handsome, intelligent, or successful we may have become. These graces are meant to be shared with our less fortunate brothers and sisters.
Often I have heard; “Let them get a job and work.” Consider how sad it could be when they are working, yet not earning enough to adequately support a large family. Probably, we all have heard how it was once said many decades ago to a queen in England that the people were starving due to failed crops and other issues.
The Queen replied swiftly, believing she was addressing the problem and simply said; “Then let them eat cake.”
God gave up His life for us, nailed to a cross where He hung for hours, and cried out for a sp of water. But He bled for us, all of us to save us from sin. Because He loves us that much! Humility calls us to be reminded that just because we have more than others does not mean we deserve more than others. Many of our brothers and sisters, our neighbors live with health issues, or mental issues that prevent them from fulfilling certain job positions.
It is not for us to judge others, but to reach out a hand and offer assistance from time to time. Regardless of how successful, or rich one becomes, we all will one day stand before God and be accountable for our actions, or possibly, lack of action. Each one of us has something to offer to a less fortunate person, The reward in part, is a sence of feeling of value in this world, and a feeling of following our God.
