The Assumption of Mary
Welcome everyone to my new work with Catholic 365. To my loyal friends from Walking With My Brother both at Substack and at Word Press, thank you for your encouragement and good wishes as we walk together in this holy endeavor of spiritual writing with Our Lord.
I have an early project that I’m excited to share beginning in early Advent on December 4th. I have been busy over the last several years writing and reflecting on each of the 20 mysteries of the Rosary. This began as a response to grace — a holy desire, I think — to have reminders of all of the beautiful insights and lessons Our Lord and His Mother shared with me during my daily Rosary prayers.
A little background first on me. An adult convert to Roman Catholicism, I had very little exposure to our veneration of Mary or to Rosary prayer and reflection.
After months of praying the Rosary under guidance and as I began to evolve into my own rhythm of reflection, I found I wanted reminders of the insights I’d been given by the Holy Spirit during previous prayer times — something written down — which I could refer to as I reflected on each mystery and explored more and more deeply the layers of its lessons.
What I’ll share here feels incredibly personal, and yet holds truths which transcend our individual lives, I think. I hope you’ll find meaning in them, too, as you pray your own Rosary. I pray they comfort and console you, as we allow our Holy Mother to conform us, bit by bit, to the will of her Son and His Will for our lives.
It has not been easy to know when to be done. The Rosary is a precious gift of grace. Praying it daily and allowing the lessons sink into our hearts has a softening effect on our spirit. As our hearts become more pliable, Jesus is able to heal us and mold us into those ‘very good’ creatures intended by Our Father at creation.
My impression after many hours with Our Lord and His mother is that these meditations may be fluid over time. Not because they are wrong now or insufficient in any particular time, but because my understandings are likely to deepen and my focus shift over time, as I grow and mature in my faith.
These are my words, or what I believe are the Holy Spirit's words for me, given to me to share with you. They are precious to me and I hope they will bless you, as well.
