Holy Week
Tending to someone's needs with a loving, responsible and caring attitude is essential to carrying out the daily duties and trials that are associated with Caregiving. I am a mother of 4 daughters so I sort of had somewhat of a handle on how to take care of someone.
Everyone is different and so far in my years of caregiving, I have found that every situation of responsibility is different. You must be prepared for heartache and struggle with daily needs. My determination to care for the person while in their home, is the path I have chosen, or should I say, it has been chosen for me.
Much patience is needed to do this job and I can confidently say that I have had to learn what true patience is. I have my own trials I go through, but you must be able to forget yourself and focus on the task at hand the minute you step through their door. It is not easy a lot of days but what a joy on most. I pray a lot when I caregive and my sweet Guardian Angel is always waiting there to help me out.
If I picture that it is Jesus that I am taking care of, it helps me a lot. The compassion and tenderness I can give to another who is not able to take care of themselves is so rewarding and fulfilling.
Jesus is the caregiver of us all. No matter how old are young we are, no matter the length of limitations we have, we all need someone to take care of us. If we ask for help and guidance on that care, we are sure to succeed. We all need each other. I pray that when my time comes, there will be someone patient and loving to do the job. Thinking ahead of this thought will help for your future care. "Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you" and remember always, what Jesus said, "Whatever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto to me ".
