In conquering Sin, We Create A Temple For The Lord
Chemistry And Tolerance
Eileen Renders December 2023
Most of God’s human creatures were born with a good chemistry balance but there are many temptations and curiosity often leads to a certain percentage of individuals will often experiment with illegal drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, and, or consumption of denatured foods in excess amounts. Needless to say, these types of habits can ultimately lead to a breakdown of chemistry balance.
Yet because of God’s endless love for the humans He created, people were also gifted with a fair amount of tolerance. This tolerance enables people to bear the brunt of an imbalanced chemistry for quite some time. Ah, but time moves onward, and time can become an enemy. This is so as time contributes to a loss of tolerance leading to wear and tear that begins to break down one’s very constitution. Now, all of the above creates stress within the body whereas symptoms can trigger pain, weakness, depression, and disease.
Where did we go wrong? Just going back to the beginning and as this article describes how man uses his will on how he lives out his life and makes his choices, so too must he reap the benefits or consequences of such choices.
In retrospect, the picture becomes clearer to us, how very important life’s choices can be about a healthy and long life or a painfully shorter life. One might ask himself “What could I have done better?” In the first paragraph, we mentioned our creator, God. And we are aware as Catholics that it was He who created us. Now, realizing that He came to earth, sent by the Father to teach us and save us from sinfulness, even to death on the Cross for us, it is obvious that many of us avoid the idea that everything He did was for our benefit.
Let us just take a moment here to recall what exactly were some of Christ’s daily habits and choices. What are a few of His habits and daily choices that we could be following on a daily basis for a longer, healthier life?
He helped his step-father in his Carpentry and went to the Temple to learn about His real Father in Heaven’s plan for Him in life. He walked many miles each day. He did not dabble in drugs or alcohol. Red meat seemed to be eaten only on special occasions, such as a wedding. We know that for the most part, food seemed to be from the Sea, and there was cheese and homemade bread, water, and at times, a couple of ounces of red wine with the meal. In examining one’s own choices, can we see a few of our errors? Are we consuming too much sugar, or salt in our diet? It is not difficult today to eat more over-processed food than would be considered healthy, or maybe it is excess fats and highly acidic food such as red meat.
It is never too late to institute changes and to teach your children in word and by example what God has taught us by how He led His own life, and how we all should attempt to live.
Another thought to keep in mind is that there are those sins we often disregard, such as gluttony, laziness, and more. Life is a journey and we are only given one attempt to get it right!
