How Beautiful! "The Holy Mass"
Why? Because evil exists!
We live in a world where encounters with unbelieving entities persist in compromising our every move towards holiness. In a vision to the Hellenistic Wars, Daniel relates an angel speaking to him; “Fear not, Daniel, from the first day you made up your mind to acquire understanding and humble yourself before God, your prayer was heard. Because of it I started out, but the king of Persia stood in my way for twenty-one days, until Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me.” (Dn 10: 13 - 21). This is a demonic prince that only Michael could overcome and denote evil. This evil is not just a word but a living entity that seems to exist and cannot be thwarted by prayer alone. God’s Archangel must come to our aid.
The proponents in our world that compromise our trek towards God and his desire for our seeking his grace will almost certainly find delays called evil. This entity entered the world as soon as Satan was hurled out of heaven. If he could no longer be a treasured angel with all of his beauty and was ejected because of the pride that took over his free will, his determination to obstruct humanity and the answer God sends forth will become a battle Paul spoke of; “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Eph 6: 12).
Again, evil became a living entity that wreaks division, envy, and unbelief among the people of the earth, and no simple action is enough to counter its attacks on us. It takes angelic powers from Michael and the Archangels to suppress its encounter upon you and me.
Hard to understand are situations where we try as human beings to regulate and defeat what appear as evil connotations that fall short of our abilities to control actions against our sense of well-being. But, that is when there are more reasons we need to develop a spiritual relationship with the Holy Spirit and seek God’s intervention within our everyday existence. We were not created to find our own manner of success in the world by reaching out away from God. The Tower of Babel showed how man would fall after a short climb to a peak of failure. (Gn 11: 1 - 9). God finally called Abraham (originally named Abram) to lead his people with God to the promised land filled with milk and honey.
When we look at evil and all its attributes we see the reality of Satanic influence throughout the world where too many people are at a loss unless God is the one vestige of hope and grace each one can depend on. Unfortunately, this evil condition will be with us until Christ returns and the final blow to Satan and his followers will no longer be able to affect those of us who believe in God and the promise of an eternal existence with him.
