A Joyful Lamentation
Mary hastened to the hill country of Judea
(we’re taught, up to a higher level of spirituality)
to share with her cousin, Elizabeth,
the good news of
God’s two miracles in their lives and
to serve Elizabeth in her pregnancy.
To share and serve.
Bishop Barron says we’re all called
to be like Mary,
arks of God’s final covenant.
Called to carry and to share
the Good News of our Lord.
Once being told of God’s gifts for us,
we, too, should make haste.
Go. Carry Jesus into our world.
Share His Good News with other faithful believers
and serve them.
Strengthen them in their faith
in Our Lord Jesus.
Allow our Father to encourage others
in their faith by seeing Christ,
living and present in us.
Allow our Father to strengthen our own faith, too,
by having our gifts recognized
by other faithful believers,
as Elizabeth did of Mary, when she said
“…blessed is she who believed
that there would be a fulfillment
of what was spoken to her by the Lord.”
(NSRV Luke 1:45)
Allow the Holy Spirit to move in us
and to declare, as Mary did, our praise for God,
our belief in Him:
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior…”
(NSRV Luke 1:46)
Even John in Elizabeth’s womb
recognized Mary and the son of God,
present within her.
Pray, we allow others to witness
Jesus’ spirit within us.
Pray, we allow them to share in our gifts
and be blessed by them.
Pray, we serve them, too,
and help them to carry
the burdens and joys of their gifts.
Then, together, let our hearts leap with joy,
Oh Lord, in our recognition
of the Holy Spirit in one another.

Thanks and welcome to all who joined me on this journey, as we walk with Jesus and His Mother. I hope along the way you’ll be inspired to ask others to join with us in reflecting on these meditations.
As they each publish, these meditations can be found at Rosary Meditations Library. If you follow my blog (which I hope you will!), you will receive an email alert when they become available. The Meditations Library has some additional resources that you may find helpful, including a publication schedule for future meditations.
The Bible readings most associated with each mystery (plus a few more, which helped me with additional context) will eventually be added there. And, I have described the mechanics of how I pray with these medications. I doubt, frankly, that Our Lord or His Mother cares much about how we ponder Him in our hearts. Only that we love both of them and seek to make Him first in our lives.
You can also find me at Walking With My Brother at Substack, which allows people to subscribe and contribute to the writing they value. Be assured, you will always be able to subscribe for free.
If any of you wishes to show your appreciation, I will pass all funds received on to renovation efforts of St. Mary’s of the Seven Sorrows, the oldest church still standing in Nashville, TN. Located in downtown, St. Mary’s is a precious historical gift to Nashville natives and visitors, alike. Unfortunately, its physical condition is in dire need of major renovation and repair. It would be an honor to pass along any contributions we receive to aid in sustaining this bit of church history in Nashville.
No matter where you manage to find me online, I hope you will drop me a line at maryadrienne2013@gmail.com and let me know you’re there. I would love to include you in my prayers and ask that you offer a prayer for me, too, as together, we honor our Holy Mother and her Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Joyful Mystery of the Nativity is next up. It will publish on Monday, December 11. Until then, I pray our Father blesses you, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
