Why are you waiting for greatness in others?
We understand that living in greater communion with God allows us to be instruments of good, of grace, to the world. And with the Our Father being a “summary of the whole Gospel”, it is living out the Our Father that brings us into communion with God. When we sin, our communion with God is weakened or destroyed and with it, our ability to be instruments of good.
Of course, it is Our Father’s duty to “forgive us our trespasses”, our sins. Our communion with God can be restored, but our sins have already prevented us from having brought the most good, the most grace, that we could have to the world. Therefore, it is by staying away from sin and living in a state of grace that we can bring the most grace to our world.
Now, when Our Father wills to bestow upon us the ultimate grace of His Son into our world, surely He would need someone “Full of Grace”. Indeed, He would have to set her aside at the moment of her creation to be such. After all, this creature must be so if she is to be the vehicle by which His Fatherhood is brought into the world in Its fullness.
So, Our Father created Mary without the stain of Original Sin. This we call the Immaculate Conception. She was conceived immaculately so that Jesus could come into our world and die for us. She was not immaculately conceived for her own sake. Indeed, she was not immaculately conceived for Jesus’ sake. It was for our sake that she was immaculately conceived. She could not bear God into this world any other way.
“Hail Full of Grace”, you are the Mother of God, we turn to you, our mother, to help us. Nurture us into the true Christians we are meant to be. And God thank you for creating Mary immaculately, so that You could send Your Son to die for us that we might be able to be restored as heirs to Your Kingdom. Amen.
