Protestants presuppose that the Word of God can only subsist in Scripture. But Scripture says otherwise:
Deuteronomy 6:5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Their presupposition is that the Word of God can only subsist in writing. Whereas, even Scripture TEACHES that the Word of God subsists in man:
Hebrews 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
If someone were to set fire to all the Scriptures in the world at this moment. Protestants would be at a loss what to do.
The Catholic Church wouldn’t skip a beat.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
God didn’t send His Word into a book. He sent it into the world. The souls of His elect embraced it and turned to Him so they might live.
2 Corinthians 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
