Orlando was terrible, but what can I do?
You are worth so much, that Heaven and Hell are battling over you. One seeking your ultimate happiness and the other seeking your complete annihilation. Of course, you are allowed to choose the outcome of the war, especially as each individual battle is fought. The war is never over until all of the battles have been fought during your life and you arrive at your judgment.
The weapons of this war are greater than any physical weapons, even a nuclear bomb is useless in this war. The weapons of grace from Heaven and the weapons of evil from Hell. The weapons of evil are cunning and warp a grace of Heaven. The weapons of grace are good, true, and beautiful. Much like the serpent from the beginning claiming you can be your own God (“you will be like gods” [Genesis 3:5]).
Are you worthy of such a war? All of Heaven wars for you and all of Hell as well. Surely, you must be of inestimable worth. When, after the first battle, humanity was cut off from Heaven, the highest being in all of existence, the being from which all existence came to be, came to live and die as a human to restore your capability for Heaven. God bestowed upon you a grace beyond existence itself.
At that, the battlefield has been greatly changed. Anyone, no matter how close to Hell, was able to win the war over their annihilation. Hell trembles of God’s name, His power, and His sacrifice. When evil does its dance, God does not need to respond, He has given you every grace that you need to win your war. Heaven does not fear Hell, but Hell greatly fears Heaven. After all, God is the ultimate power.
God’s goal is to love you for all of eternity and for you to love Him in return. That is far better than the serpent’s claim that you can be your own god. Even if true, being loved by God for all of eternity is far greater than being a god among gods.
Jesus, You paid the ultimate price for me. Thank you. Though I do not deserve it, I will accept Your love for me and pass this love to others. Amen.
