Is Jesus Still here?
Living By Christ’s Example
Eileen Renders November 2023
Although Jesus was indeed was sent to us by the Father to be destined to accept His crucifixion and death on the cross to redeem us of our sins so that we could see and understand His great love for us, there are also other reasons for His coming. Jesus came to also teach us by His example through His actions and words.
Jesus’ disciples had the responsibility to write down His words so that they could be passed down from generation to generation, thus the institution of the bible and our Catholic Catechism books.
It is good to study and recollect Jesus’ ways when on earth. To begin with, he became a Carpenter’s helper and worked for his earthly father, Saint Joseph. He was humble and obedient to Joseph and his mother Mary, as she was born to be the mother of Jesus Christ. He walked many miles each day and showed much love and compassion through his many healings.
Therefore, whenever we stumble through life’s ups and downs, it is wise to remember Christ’s ways as he has shown us. Expect that life will throw us curves, obstacles, and sorrows. By expecting them as part of our cross, we will be better prepared to accept them as part of life. If life were always positive and joyful, surely we would never want to leave here, or even contemplate the great joys of heaven that are meant to be ours one day.
Often, in my own life, I have difficult choices to make and I have learned to ask myself; “What would God do?” Or “What does God want me to do?” Ask for his strength and guidance and you will know the truth. He never abandons us!
