The Lies and Deceit before the Fall
Before I Go, Lord, I Want You To Know
Eileen Renders December 2023
As we mature and our time on earth turns into decades, it is fair to say that most of us begin to contemplate when we will be leaving this world behind, although none of us can know the day, or the hour, nor how our life may end, this climax of our life usually will occupy our thoughts once in a while. These thoughts trigger us to reflect upon our lives thus far, and that can be a positive reaction for those who take advantage of considering things we may have not done as well as we might have, or opportunities to do a positive service that we may have not acted upon. If we are thinking these thoughts, and are sorry that we did not do better maybe regret, or if we feel uncomfortable about the past, perhaps that is an emotional penance.
However, we are still alive and oftentimes can take the necessary action to right our wrongs. Sometimes, an apology, reuniting with family with whom we have been estranged, or helping a family member who is in need of help will allow us to move forward with a more comfortable acceptance of our future years that lie ahead.
And while we are considering making amends, let us first begin by getting down on our knees and giving thanks to God for providing us with both the grace and the time to make right what we feel we should have done differently. For it is God who also gave us the grace to look inside and see the reflection of a soul who wants to do what is right and to become more pleasing in the eyes of God.
Just realizing how precious the time we have left on earth and how we use it is a blessing from God. Our perception from that moment forward of how we use our time on earth can change dramatically. So, we want to tell God how grateful we are for his guidance and how much we love Him and will spend the remainder of our lives making corrections, being of service to others, and spending time with God. In that way only, can we face our earthly departure with peace and acceptance as we await the joy of meeting our Lord and Savior.
